Currently, we operate face to face and telephone befriending service matching individuals who are isolated, vulnerable or lonely with volunteers who provide social contact and support on a regular basis.
The telephone Befriending service is done from the comfort of one’s home. While Face-to-face Befriending means that the befriender comes to the individual’s home and spend time chatting over tea and maybe cake. Both parties would arrange the time and frequency of visits that suit both.
We aim to match the volunteers in relation to the clients’ specific needs. We take the security of both our volunteers and client’s safety seriously, therefore, every volunteer has to undergo a DBS check, and we have a robust Lone Working Policy in place. Due to Covid-19, we currently offer a limited service in this regard via telephone support only. Once restrictions ease we will offer home visits once again to both new and current clients.
If you would like further information about our befriending service please contact us here.
We are seeking a number of telephone befrienders to contact lonely or socially isolated older people in the Canterbury district. To apply, please, click here.
