Currently, our befriending service matches individuals who are isolated, vulnerable or lonely with volunteers who provide social contact and support on a regular basis.
With the Covid-19 pandemic, we have had to suspend face – to -face befriending and have been offering a telephone befriending service. Now, however, with the use of “Zoom” being used increasingly as the means to keep in touch with friends, family and work colleagues, we are now also providing “Zoom” befriending. It will give everyone a chance to use technology to have a friendly face to face chat.
Once restrictions ease we will offer home visits once again to both new and current clients. if they so wish
We aim to match the volunteers in relation to the clients’ specific needs. We take the security of both our volunteers and client’s safety seriously, therefore, every volunteer has to undergo a DBS check, and we have a robust Lone Working Policy in place.
If you would like further information about our befriending service please contact us here.
We are seeking a number of telephone/Zoomn befrienders to contact lonely or socially isolated older people in the Canterbury district. To apply, please, click here.
