Celebrating volunteers

Celebration of Volunteering

The Canterbury District Volunteer Centre hosted a “Celebration of Volunteering” just prior to Volunteers week, to publicly acknowledge the fantastic endeavours of so many who give their time freely to help others within the Canterbury District.  The Lord Mayor, Cllr Anne Dekker was in attendance to hand out certificates and publicly thank the 100+ volunteers who were present.

This event was the first time since the pandemic that the Canterbury District Volunteer Centre was able to bring so many volunteers and organisations together in one place to recognise the unique and selfless contributions that volunteers make day in day out to enable local organisations to undertake their vital work.

The event was sponsored by CanterburyBid and Kent County Council’s Adult Education Department and was hosted in St Peter’s Anglican Church in Canterbury high Street.  The Church is currently seeking funding to transform into an Oasis in the Community and was a perfect venue for this occasion.

Guadalupe Molina from the Kent Kidney Patients Association said:

“Last Tuesday was a great success you and your team should be very proud. Our volunteers are still talking about it now. They felt very honored to have received their certificates and I am very grateful to you for giving me a chance as Chairman of KKPA to thank them properly.”
